News ArchiveLimp Bizkit Guitar Search IIBy now, most of you have read that infamous post on the events at the Limp Bizkit guitar search. But that post (which has been since removed from here) is largely false. It has been modified greatly by someone who obviously hates Limp Bizkit. Here's what the original author had to say:"The original story detailed what happened at the guitar center tryouts, and the fact that there was quite the wait, and that in the end no one got picked to jam and the band left. I'd say a good 50% of the story that you've received is fairly accurate." ... "I'm not going to be stupid enough to slander someone, regardless of who it is, in a publically available article. I've got no reason to want Fred Durst to get a beat down. The next paragraph about Guitar Center is also false. The lady did end up getting the guitar. These aren't the only "wrong" parts of the article, but they're the most obviously screwed up." And here is what the other person referred to in the original post had to say: "okay I am part of that band and i auditioned right in front of the person who wrote that. There are a few wrong facts about what was said. The band DID apoligize for what happend and the guy on the megaphone said this "something has come up and we don't usually do it like this but we'll have to notify the finalists by phone and have it another day. the band may come out for autograph signings later, but you will be contacted by phone." The person who wrote that article said that the quote used came directly from the mouth of the manager of guitar center. The guy I played for was the Vice President of Flawless Records, M. Webber, and was a very cool guy. You're allowed to play 60 seconds, but he let me play for about 2 minutes because he was into what i was playing. He was very laid back and wasn't at all "just play and get out" type. After it was over, Fred finally did come out and talk to fans, I talked to him and got a picture with him. The cops that were there were the same cops that were there all day for security reasons. NO ONE was forced to leave the parkinglot. I myself stayed there with many other people until 9 oclock and the store actually reopened its doors around 8. as for what they can legally do with the music played, you've got me. find a copy of the form and try to figure it out yourself.
For all we know something important really could have come up, or it could be what was just stated. Only the band knows and I wouldn't jump to conclusions."
