May 28, 2000 - Washington, D.C. - FedEx Field - WHFStival
Set list: Deftones weren't that good. I'll be honest. I was pumped up cause I haven't seen them play live for about a year. HFStival was my 12th time seeing them live. They seemed like they didn't want to be there. Not a word was spoken by any member of the band, except for the obligatory "thank you"s from Chino at the end of the song and Chi thanking the fans. Abe threw his sticks at his drums at the end of the set. They all looked pissed. They sounded awesome though. The new shit sounds great. Wasn't getting a good vibe from their stage presence, or something like that. Pit was crazy. Best moshing of all day when the Tones were on. This pretty much gives me closure with the fact that Deftones will stay somewhat underground and fan-oriented. Their music is not for the mainstream. Can't wait to see them June 21st, the day after the album comes out, in Philly. By the way, the lead singer of Filter had good things to say about the new album when they played their set. Cypress Hill gave a shout out to them, and Staind said to the crowd that Deftones would come out and kick our fucking asses. (BTW - someone threw a dildo on the stage during Staind's set. It was hilarious.) |
