June 30, 2000 - Minneapolis, MN @ Quest by Jeff - jscagle777@juno.com Wow! What a great night! Pretty much every band member of both the Deftones and Glassjaw were in good moods that night. And speaking of Glassjaw, they played a set that lasted about a half-hour. There were some members of the audience that were really into them, so they decided to mosh it out. Oh well, the band didn't recieve any boos or shit thrown at them, so that was a good thing. Although there were some feedback problems taking place, they didn't perform that bad at all. Some people reported earler that this band was a Deftones-ripoff. I thought that was bogus. Now onto the Deftones. Just like the last time they were at the Quest, there was lots of pushing and shoving before the show. I heard some Faith No More music being played while the sets were changed, but it wasn't that. Anyways, the lights turn out and they get to this music interlude where Steph was the first to be onstage. The rest followed with Chino being the last out. Steph began playing the guitar tabs to BQAD then some awesome lights were shown. The whole crowd went nuts! They played for about 70 minutes. The setlist:
BQAD Some dumbass poser threw a NY Yankees hat onstage, and Chino picked it up and said, "Hey Fred Durst, you forgot your hat." He also slammed a couple of mics down becuase they weren't working too well. Then towards the end, some people from the balcony were throwing acid at him, and was like, "I can taste the acid you guys are throwing down." I so wished they would've played more songs from the White Pony, particularily "Knife Prty," "Elite," and "Pink Maggit." After the show, we hung out outside of the club. I talked to Steph (his eyes were very bloodshot) first. Pretty quiet. Later on in the night, he hooked my friend and I up with some of his beer. How often does that happen? He mentioned of touring with A Perfect Circle and Meshugenah in the fall, along with 2 other groups. Plus, he promised that they will probably never tour with Limp Bizkit or Korn again, which I like, in my opinion. Chino surprisingly came out second. Plus, he was in a good mood. Chino denied touring with Tool, but said that they'll definetly be back in the fall with a great line-up. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. Then Chi comes out. He mentioned possibly NIN, which would be interesting. Other than that, me and him talked about his beer drinking contest out at the K-Rock DFP concert last week. He told us he won, which I can believe him. Next comes Abe. The motherfucker is funny! He has this obsession with Prince every time he comes to Minneapolis. After I showed him that Chi had signed in his spot, he was like, " I'm gonna pee all over his bunk tonight!" Like I said, he's a funny guy. He also said confirmed that they'll be back in the fall. Frank came out last. He sounded like he was in a happy mood, hehehe. Great guy to chat with as well. Jeff |
