![]() July 20, 2000 - @ Tabernacle When I got to the Tabernacle, the general admission section was packed. I pushed and prodded my way to the second row, center, and waited for Deftones. Glassjaw came on and they were okay but people started booing and yelling for Chino. The acoustics in the pit were horrible because of the booing but when the Deftones finally came on people shut up or sang along and it was great! The Deftones finally came on and did a fuckin' long set. I know they opened with "My Own Summer (Shove It)" and their encore was "Headup" and in-between they did "Mascara," "Around the Fur," "Be Quiet and Drive," "MX," "Bored," "7 Words," "Digital Bath," "Street Carp," "Change," a song by Depeche Mode, and I want to say they did "Pink Maggit." Before "7 Words" Chino talked about punk rock and said "Fuck hard rock." As Chino has done every other show this season (I think) he serenaded the motherfuckers who have been there since day one (hell yeah!) This was the best show I've ever been to and although I got whiplash and lost my shoes and got dehydrated (all of which I should be used to by now) it was absolutely wonderful. If you ever go to the Tabernacle, for CHRIST'S SAKE don't buy a balcony seat. Why would you want to sit down while you watch the Deftones?
