July 24, 1998 - Toronto, Ont - The Docks
by Val - valsg@sprint.ca
my friend and i got to the docks at about 11:30 and the doors were already open so it was fast getting in. since this place is SO huge, there was no such thing as the tickets "selling out", there were unlimited tickets so needless to say, there were a shit load of people. i checked the schedule and i was psyched to see that the deftones were the headliners! even though all the bands get the same amount of time i still thought it was cool. and i know why, cos deftones are HUGE in toronto, canada. they were the only band i came to see. less than jake were playing at the stage deftones were so i got close to the front, then bad religion was on the next stage so my friends and i hauled ass, trying to make it to the front. we got second row. after bad religion got off, deftones came on and everyone went fucking crazy! it was wicked. they had the biggest crowd out of all the bands and the craziest too! they immediately started with my own summer and then the violence started :) after my own summer and lotion, my friend and i got out, we couldn't stand it. besides i'm only 5'5 and i had some 6'0 tall dude in front of me. anyway, so we got close but not close enough to the mosh and the rest of the show was absolutely amazing!! the dynamics of the deftones is unbelieveable. in my opinion, they put on the best show out of all the bands there. not because they're my favourite band but because they seem to put EVERYTHING into their live performance, like it's their last. they full on give you a whoop ass time :) anyway, so the setlist was:
anyway, deftones were fucking wicked (as usual) and i can't wait til they come back to toronto. val |
