I LOVE THE DEFTONES!!!!! There now that i got that out of my system ill tell you about the concert. We got to the 2nd annual Cypress Hill Smokeout at around 11:30 am. The Deftones werent due on till 10:10 pm. So we pretty much just wandered around the whole time. They had this huge wherehouse on the grounds that they rented out and they used it for a rave building. That was the first time i had ever done that and it was pretty kewl but not what i came to do. The whole thing was pretty much rap bands untill this band called fishbone came out. They were pretty crazy. They werent like hardcore music they were...well i dont know how to explain them. Ska maybe?? I dont know but they were old as fuck and they got a pretty wild pit going. After them a couple of rap acts came on and then the Long Beach Dub Allstars came on. Thats the new sublime band for those of you who dont know. They were awesome. After them another rap band came on and the whole time during that act I was making my way to the front. I just kept pushing and finally i got the the 2nd row and a little left of the center. They opened with Root. It was awesome!!!! Most of the crowd went crazy. There were too many rap fans though that were just like standing there. They pissed me off. But anyways it was the second time i had seen the deftones and the first time they kind of disappointed me because there was sun in my eyes and dirt in the air from the pits and the microphones kept on fucking up. This time more than made up for it. The second song they played was off of white pony. It was the one where Chino plays guitar. It was pretty cool. Then they introduced this next song as a bad brains cover and this black guy (bad brains singer??) came on stage to sing it with them. It was okay but the real treat was when right in the middle of my own summer, Chino jumped off the stage and stood up on the railing in front of the crowd and stayed there long enough to finish that song and then to sing be quiet and drive. It was awesome he put the mike down in the crowd so people were screaming into it. Chi's dreads are getting REALLY long he was whipping them around like a mad man. It was incredible how much energy they were putting into their performance. Deftones are the second best band I have ever seen live. Only KoRn exceeds them not by much though. If you ever get a chance to see the Deftones do it. You wont regret it.
