Just got back from the Deftones/Pitchshifter/Quicksand show... Pitchshifter started it all off, I was somewhat stand-offish about them, but they are much better live than recorded.. the lead singer is crazy and really cool and shit.. Good act live.. They started with Microwaved, played some old songs like Virus and Triad, then added in some new stuff like Genius and Please Sir.. overall a good set, check them out... Next was Quicksand.. the music was kind of catchy, but the vocals had something missing.. I, and everyone else in the place, didn't really care for them much.. I have no idea what they played, let's just leave it at the "don't go out of your way" rating.. then this weird ass light setup starts and all this chanting and shit goes on for about 5 mins, then somehow morphs into My Own Summer.. it was crazy, but really cool.. Tones ripped it up, even though they disappointed me by not playing Teething and not doing the Wicked part of Engine #9.. oh well.. Right before "Squeal like a pig" in 7 words, Chino climbed the pa (a good 20+ feet) and jumped, no one could believe it (except me) and he didn't even do the rap part which kind of scared me cuz I thought he got hurt or something, but then he stumbled back onto stage, tripping over a wire, but finished the song.. other songs they played were Birthmark, Bored, Root, Head Up, Be Quiet and Drive, and a bunch of others that I can't remember right now... I got the jacket too, but contrart to prior beliefs, they were $40, not $25... All of the shirts there were not very cool, you can get them at Bop Topic if you wanted, but they all sucked... but I did buy my friend a bootleg shirt outside for $10.. it has the Screamin Kitty, but it's really big and gray instead of black, and says Around the Fur on the bottom instead of Adrenaline.. then on the back it has a big 98 and says Deftones-House of Fur.. not the best bootleg shirt, but decent =).. that's my semi-review, go see them. Quicksand, feh. Out.
