deftones

History

Here is a brief history of the Deftones. I got all the info from reading different articles on the net and magazines. Feel free to add more if you want.

Deftones is a band out of Sacremento, CA. Chino(then going by Wong), Stephen, and Chi knew each other from highschool, and they used to jam together. The original band featured the three plus John Taylor, the first drummer. A few years after the band started, John Taylor quit and joined Prayer Wheel. The Deftones then auditioned for a new drummer. During their auditions, Abe from the band Phallucy filled in as their drummer. After a while, Abe quit Phallucy and joined the Deftones. And that's how they came to be.

When they were still a small band in Sacto, they toured with KoRn, L7, and other local bands. In 1995, they signed with Maverick records and released Adrenaline, an awesome album. They made 2 videos from the album: Bored and 7 Words. Neither of them received much attention.

On Oct. 28, 1997, the band released their much-anticipated sophomore album, Around the Fur. Another 2 videos were released: My Own Summer and Be Quiet and Drive. Both of them received some video play on MTV and other music networks. The band toured with Limp Bizkit, Will Haven, Warped Tour, and others in support of it.

On June 20, 2000, White Pony was released. In the new record, the band officially adds their 5th member: DJ Frank Delgado. The new record features a much more ambient sound. Change (In The House of Flies) is the first single and Back to School (Mini Maggit) was the second single.

Some extra info just for kicks. The video for Bored was filmed at a practice house in Sacramento; also, in the background of the video, you could see Will Haven standing around. The video for 7 Words was filmed at Cattle Club in Sacremento. The place is now named Bo Janlges.
