KoRn Update: After Woodstock
Straight from Mailing List:
Back from Woodstock, here's Jonathan:
Hey! We just got back from Woodstock '99... You suck if you missed it, 'cause
I think it was the best Korn show we've ever done! It's the most amazing
thing to play for 300,000 people, and I want to thank you for being a part of
it if you were there!
Today marks the big day! We started moving our shit into the recording studio
that will be home for the next couple months. We start recording on Wednesday
(28th), and are really excited 'cause the new shit is off the hook!!
Keep your eyes open for the launch of the studio cam. We've had some
technical difficulties putting it all together, but we're working on it
'cause we want you there with us!
Peace!
Jonathan

ONCE OR YOU AIN'T GOING. THE DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS 9AM TUESDAY MORNING.
Again, email us all the info above ONLY if you live within 200 miles of

KoRn Studio Update II
More stuff from Jonathan. That 80s stuff was a joke as someone pointed out to me since I was stupid enough to take it seriously, hehe...
Hello!
We're back in the studio working on our next album. We are working with
Brendan O'Brien as producer this time. He's done Rage, Pearl Jam, STP, and a
whole shitload of other phat bands.
Things are going well. It's been about two weeks since we started and we've
already written eight songs! They are so fuckin' heavy! It reminds me of the
first album... more groove oriented.
Keep checking this space daily, 'cause we'll be online daily to let you know
what's going on, straight outta LA!
Peace,
Jonathan
7/11/99
KoRn Studio Update
Here's an update from Jonathan. I'd have to say I'm real dissappointed at the direction KoRn is heading.
** JON'S STUDIO UPDATE #2 **
Whas up piiiiimppps and piiiiimpppettes!
So we're still just working on the songs, and we've realized that they
remind us of other bands, so we are naming the songs after old 80's bands.
Um, I started on vocals today...just trippin' on some melody ideas. I'm also
setting a studio up in my house so I can work when it hits me. Stay tuned,
'cause I'm gonna put a 24-7 live webcam in there, and you never know what I
might be up to!
Thanks for checkin in again, and woowoowoowooooowoowoowoo!
Peace,
Jonathan

Korn Track Used In Puma Commercials
Korn may have embraced the old childhood adage of "All
Day I Dream About Sex" ("A.D.I.D.A.S.") on 1996's Life
Is Peachy, but it's athletic shoe and clothing
manufacturer Puma that is set to reap the benefits of
the neo-metal act's soaring popularity.
Korn's current single, "Freak on a Leash," will be
featured in the company's first-ever branding campaign
(meaning the advertisements highlight Puma as a
company rather than a specific product), according to
Amber Fredman, Puma's entertainment marketing
director.
"We think Korn is a perfect fit between our campaign
and the hardcore consumer market," says Fredman. The
first three spots featuring Korn will debut during the
Super Bowl XXXIII pre-game show on Fox on Sunday (Jan.
31).
The endorsement should come as no surprise to Korn
fans, considering the band has been seen outfitted in
Puma athletic wear nearly everywhere they go since the
release of their most recent album, Follow the Leader,
including onstage and in their publicity shots.
1/30/99
Davis on Limp Bizkit
From MTV: Jonathan Davis and Scott Weiland will appear in the same song on the new Limp Bizkit album. The band also hopes that Eminem and Method Man will turn up on the album, though they have not yet recorded anything for the album. The album is pretty much done minus some vocals and touch-ups. It is being produced by Terry Date. Expect it around April.
1/26/99

New Video
As Korn prepares to wind down
its post-Family Values tour with a
concert at Los Angeles' Shrine
Auditorium on Friday, the band is
getting ready to film its
long-awaited second video.
Korn will be shooting the clip for
its next single, "Freak on a
Leash," on December 13 and 14
in Los Angeles with "Spawn"
creator Todd McFarlane, along
with the directorial team of
Jonathan Dayton and Valerie
Faris.
Plans currently call for the video
to be a mixture of animation and
live performance footage, a move
which harkens back to
McFarlane's lastvideo credit, as
he helmed the fully-animated
video for Pearl Jam's "Do the
Evolution." The renowned
comic-book artist also created the
cover art for Korn's current
album, "Follow the Leader."
The directing duo of Dayton and
Faris have won more than their
fair share of Video Music Awards
for their work, which includes
videos for the Smashing
Pumpkins, Scott Weiland and
Neil Finn.
Korn's video for "Freak on a
Leash" is expected to start airing
on MTV in late January. - mtvnews.com

Korn Cancel New York Show Due To Lead Singer's Exhaustion
Doctor's orders cancelled a scheduled Korn concert at
RPI Fieldhouse in Troy, N.Y. on Wednesday (Nov. 4),
due to exhaustion on the part of lead singer Jonathan
Davis, according to Peter Katsis of The Firm, the
band's Los Angeles-based management company.
"Jonathan has reached a point of exhaustion and it was
suggested by a doctor that he sit out a few days,"
says Katsis. "The doctor basically said that if we are
planning on finishing the last three weeks of the
tour, we"d better give him a rest."
Korn had an already scheduled day off Thursday (Nov.
5) and, according to Katsis, Friday's show at the
Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass., will go on as
scheduled. The band apologized to fans in Troy and
will reschedule the show at a date to be determined.
The final date of the band's current tour is scheduled
for Nov. 21 in Nashville. Korn set out on the Family
Values tour, which just finished up on Halloween, on
Sept. 22 (allstar, Aug. 13). They are scheduled
to join Australia's Big Day Out tour with Marilyn
Manson, among others, on Jan. 13 in Auckland, New
Zealand. - Rocktropolis

New Album Promotions
Korn is hitting the "Kampaign Trail" for a concept retail promotional
tour that threatens to wreak havoc wherever they go. The jaunt -- in
support of the band's forthcoming Follow the Leader (Aug.18, Immortal/
Epic) -- will hit record stores in 15 cities.
"It's an election year and Korn has always been about taking their music
to the streets, to the kids," explains The Firm's Jeff Kwatinetz, Korn's
manager, of the concept. "It's not all about mainstream avenues, not to say
that MTV or radio don't factor in, but it's mostly about street- level
campaigns. So we're going on the Kampaign -- with a K -- trail with Korn
and their 'Family Values' platform. We'll be doing Kampaign stops to see
the kids. It's going to be a circus."
When asked if it would be similar to Marilyn Manson's live performance of
"Antichrist Superstar," in which Manson speaks as if from a political
podium, Kwatinetz answers, "There will be elements of a mock political
press conference; we just don't want to do the same ol' kind of promotional
tour. At the same time we don't want to discount that either, so we'll have
stuff for kids to sign, while wreaking havoc."
In other Korn news, the band's official Web site, http://www.korn.com,
will be back in action on Aug. 1. The revamped site will
now include a news section for the latest Korn happenings, and will
house the group's Korn-TV After-School Specials.

New Album Listening Party
For all you Korn fans in NY, there is going to be a Follow The Leader listening party, Friday Aug. 7th @10pm. It will be held at the Z-bar (206 Ave. A @13th St.) Props to LEETCH1997@aol.com for the info.
8/2/98
Tid-Bits
Here are some small pieces of news.
- The new album will have 25 tracks. The music starts only on the 13th track. The reasoning behind this was that they didn't want the CD to end on track 13 since there are 13 songs so they started on track 13. Track 1-12 are nothing.
- Got some more realaudio clips from the new CD, check them out.
- koRnTV returns on August 14th for a album release party. Remember, you need the RealPlayer to see the show.
Concert Date
Here is a concert date for KoRn in Japan: 08/02/98 Tokyo JPN Fuji Rock Festival

New Single
Fans who are eagerly awaiting a taste of the new Korn album won't have
to wait as long as they had originally thought. The first single from
the band's upcoming "Follow The Leader" album, a track called "Got The
Life," will arrive at radio stations across the country next week
instead of the early August date originally slated.
Spokespeople for the band say that the song's release date has been
moved from August 4 to July 28 because some stations have been airing a
bootleg version of the track.
Fans hoping to actually get their hands on the new Korn will have to
wait until August 18 when "Follow The Leader" arrives in stores.
7/28/98
Album Cover
Here is what Jonathan Davis had to say about the cover of their new CD, Follow the Leader. I found this at Rocktropolis. You can check out a crappy version of the cover here.
"He turned down every other band but us," enthuses Korn's lead singer
Jonathan Davis about Spawn comic book artist Todd McFarlane creating the
album artwork for Korn's forthcoming Follow the Leader, due Aug. 18 on
Immortal/Epic.
Davis explains the art (pictured above): "It's a million kids going down
a cliff, Hobbit-looking children. They're playing hopscotch, and on the
last square they jump off a cliff and Earth's below. It's in coppers and
black." Along with McFarlane, the artwork was also created by Greg Capullo,
with coloring by Brian Haberlin and the cover design by Brent Ashe. Ashe
works for Todd McFarlane Productions, while Capullo and Haberlin have
worked for McFarlane as independent contractors.
Korn's manager Jeff Kwatinetz of The Firm explains the artwork concept
further: "On the first album, the cover had a girl by the swing, and the
second was a kid looking in a mirror. This one is not the same girl,
because it's animated, but it's that girl kind of jumping off this cliff,
and it shows hordes of kids following."
Korn and McFarlane joined forces before, when Korn and the Dust Brothers
contributed the track "Kick the P.A." to the Spawn soundtrack last year,
and a Spawn comic book mentioned Korn in an issue.

The Future of Wicked Land

Family Values Addition
Rammstein has been added to the Family Values lineup. I guess Rob Zombie was dropped for some reason. Here is the complete lineup for now:
- Ice Cube
- Limp Bizkit
- Orgy
- Korn
- Rammstein

More New Album Newz
Korn has a few special musical and visual treats in store for fans beyond their new album, Follow the Leader, which is due Aug. 18 on Immortal/ Epic.
First, the album itself will feature a multimedia component, which includes the never- before- released- commercially video for "A.D.I.D.A.S." and album artwork by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, for which lithographs of the artwork signed by Korn and McFarlane will be given away via radio and retail promotions. Korn will appear with McFarlane at a comic book convention in San Diego Aug. 14-16 as well.
But there are also a few added bonuses. With the purchase of Follow the Leader at various national music retail chains, an added- value CD will be given for free. Some of those added- value pieces are a 14-song sampler that will include an outtake from the Follow the Leader sessions titled "Don't Forget That," along with tracks by Limp Bizkit, Orgy, Powerman 5000, and others.
Another bonus CD will be the remix EP of the album track, "All in the Family," which features Korn singer Jonathan Davis and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst trading vocals. The four remixes are by DJ Clark Kent, Level X, and Scarecrow Adams, and it was serviced as a promotional CD for clubs in early June. The other bonus CD is the "Good Life" single from Korn's 1996 platinum album Life Is Peachy by German act Rammstein.
The retail chains the added value CDs will be available at and specifics have not been determined yet.
7/14/98
New Album Related
Starting on August 18th, the day of the release, KoRn will be involved with a 13-city, 16-day Promo Tour that will include New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Phoenix, San Francisco, Detroit, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas, and Toronto. The KoRn "Family Values Tour" will be on the road 4 weeks after (September 18th).
7/13/98
Elementree Signings
Orgy's Candyass will be released Aug. 11. Fieldy is slated to enter the studio July 17 to begin recording Cradle of Thorns -- from Bakersfield, California.
Cradle of Thorns, who have toured with Korn before, have recorded two albums for Triple X Records -- Feed-Us and Download This!.
In addition, Korn has signed a rapper from Canada -- who is tentatively going by the name Fear No Mob -- to a demo deal. Fieldy describes him as "horror rap" with a full, live band.
Elementree Records is a joint venture between Korn, the band's management The Firm, and Warner Bros., and will go through Reprise/ Warner Bros.

Family Values announced
Here is the word from Rocktropolis for the up-coming Family Values tour.
Korn's long-awaited Family Values tour is finally upon us. The five-to
eight- week tour will kick off Sept. 23 with Korn, Ice Cube, Rob Zombie,
Limp Bizkit, and Orgy and hit indoor arenas (12,000-18,000 seaters) for
under $30 a ticket. Exact tour dates and venues are expected in the next
week or so.
Korn bassist Fieldy explains the tour's genesis: "Shows like Lollapalooza
have too big of a variety of music, rather than all the same vibe. So, we
decided to put our own tour together with the same vibe."
When asked if the hard rock Family Values tour will compete with the
metal-minded OzzFest, Fieldy says, "OzzFest is more metal and you see
people 25- 40- years- old. You come to Family Values and you're looking at
10- 25- years- old."
The tour is put together by Korn, Jeff Kwatinetz and Michael Green of
Korn's management company The Firm, and John Scher of Metropolitan
Entertainment and is booked by the William Morris Agency.
Kwatinetz says the tour, which has been talked about since last summer,
will "be heavy on production." The stage will revolve so there's little
down time in between bands, but, Kwatinetz says that that down time will
include some surprises. "The concept of the tour is really to get
production and excitement back into rock and roll," he says. "Korn and Limp
Bizkit and Zombie are all really theatrical type bands. We're giving a lot
of value for the money."
Meanwhile, "Got The Life" has been selected as the first single from the
band's forthcoming album, Follow The Leader. It hits radio the first week
of August. The album's out Aug. 18 on Immortal/Epic.

No EuroOzzFest for KoRn
KoRn has canceled their appearance on the EuroOzzFest later this month. They were scheduled to appear along with Pantera, Slayer, Soulfly, etc. The reason for this is Head's wife is having a baby, and Head wanted to be there for her.

New Album News
The new album, "Follow the Leader", is slated for a August 18th release. Vanilla Ice will NOT be working together with KoRn on the new CD; however here are four that will:
- Korn and Ice Cube have recorded a track called "Children of the Korn" for the upcoming album.
- Korn and Cheech Marin (Cheech & Chong). Cheech lends vocals to Korn's update of the 1978 Cheech & Chong nugget "Earache My Eye" from the comedy team's film "Up In Smoke." The track also has Korn's members take on new duties as frontman Jonathan Davis mans the drumkit, bassist Fieldy steps up to the mic, drummer David plays bass, and guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch trade guitar parts.
- Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst will be guesting on "All in the Family."
