Phil = Anton Crowley
Here's a good explanation I got from Fred Syer.
Phil Anselmo is Anton Crowley. He played lead guitar for Necrophagia on their reunion album (if you can call it that) in 1998. Back in 1995 or 1994, something like that, he came out with Viking Crown where he also used the name Anton Crowley. In Necrophagia publicity photos and stuff, he had mask his face due to some contract stipulations with Elektra.
1.10.00Opening Act for Pantera US Tour
Big rumors from Norway: Norwegian black metal band Satyricon might open for Pantera on their US tour in April. This was reported in the 2nd biggest newspaper in Norway. Mad props to Vegard for the hot tip.
1.9.00More Explanation on Anton Crowley and Phil
Now that I've done some more research, Anton Crowley might just be Phil. All the pictures of him show someone resembling Phil. Anton is in the band Necrophagia. He's the lead guitarist. Phil is also officially in the band Eibon. He's the lead guitarist in that.
1.9.00Slayer Guests
Kerry King from Slayer will appear on a song on Pantera's new album called "Goddamn Electric". He'll play a solo.
1.8.00Viking Crown
I was really confused on this issue and thanks to Nyles1644, I am now clear. Phil Anselmo is not Anton Crowley. Viking Crown has no connection with Pantera.

10.12.99Phil's Side Project
This weeks KERRANG!!! magazine has a small article about Phil's secret band 'VIking Crown'. The album 'Unorthodox Steps of Ritual' was single handedly recorded in 1994 by Phil ANselmo. It's out this week in UK. I have no idea what it sounds like but with song titles like 'JUDAS GOAT' and 'SATAN RULER OF EARTH' it's probably extreme death/black metal.
Thanx to Aly Jamal for the news.

I'm gonna be gone until July 10; so no updates for Wicked Land until then. Meanwhile, you can read up at Rocktropolis, check tourdates at PollStar, and buy stuff at CDnow.
6/8/99New Album Update
Here's what the May issue of Metal Hammer reported on the new album:"We're going back to being really heavy this time around," says the sticksman [Vinnie Paul], who's also producing the record at the band's own studio in Texas. "We really want to kick out again. You could say that this is a 'back to the roots album' for us."
The as-yet-untitled album will be released later this year on Atlantic. But the band - Paul, vocalist Phil Anselmo, guitarist Dimebag Darrell and bassist Rex Brown - refuse to be rushed into anything.
"We will take all the time necessary to make this the best album we can," insists Paul. "It will be released when it's ready and not before."
As far as touring plans are concerned, Pantera are committed to playing shows in the UK as soon as their schedule allows.
"We enjoyed being on the Ozzfest bill in Britain last year," enthuses the drummer/producer, "and we really wanna come back this time to do a full tour."
And it seems that vocalist Phil Anselmo isn't the only Pantera member to get involved with side-projects. Paul and Dimebag have been working on an album with cult country performer David Allen Coe. This is called 'Rebel Meets Rebel'. However, the project remains unsigned at present.
"We're concentrating fully on Pantera right now," says Paul. "Everything else is on the back burner."

Well, here is what Phil had to say about a Heroin overdose a long, long, long time ago. This was released from Concrete Management.
I, Philip H. Anselmo, immediately after a very successful show in Dallas injected a lethal dose of Heroin into my arm, and died for 4 to 5 minutes. There was no lights, no beautiful music, just nothing. And then after 20 minutes (from what I heard later) my friends slapped me and poured water over my head all basically trying to revive me. The paramedics finally arrived and all I remember is waking up in the back of an ambulance. From that point on I knew all I wanted was to be back on the tour bus, going to the next gig. Instead I was going to the hospital where I was released very shortly. You see, I'm not a Heroin Addict. But I am (was) an intravenous drug abuser. The lesson learned here is that every nightmare ever heard about O.D.ing, and or, Heroin is terribly true. And for my friends and family as well as myself and our fans. (Pantera, Down Etc.), I since then have recovered completely, the Pantera Tour uninterrupted. I intend to keep it that way! Special Thanks to my Family and Friends who supported me, and the fans who pump me up to the hilt. One message to everyone in this fucking world. I am not a weakling groping for sympathy. I WILL NOT DIE SO EASILY! I'm here to piss off the music press for a long time to come.
Very Sincerely,
Philip Anselmo
