July 14, 2000 - Virginia - Nissan Pavilion

I went to see SOULFLY at Ozzfest, July 14, 2000, at Nissan Pavilion in VA. I got the tickets months ahead of the time. Ministry was supposed to headline the second stage, a band I know little about. My friend, who I went to the concert with to me that SOULFLY was replacing Ministry, I went nuts. SOULFLY!

I took a female friend of mine to the concert with me. She had never heard SOULFLY till the concert, now she's a big fan of the band. The show was awesome. The second stage was in a corner making it cozy. We were less than fifteen yards from the stage. I could see into Max's eyes, see his passion from the music and for the "Tribe." I screamed the words to nearly every song in the back of my friends head. I especially like the song "Bleed," because Max's son Ritchie does F. Durst's part live. SOULFLY's set was smashing but as all good things it didn't seem long enough. It was hot and humid all day till the bands before SOULFLY came on ( Kittie ) it started raining. Which was sweet relief. The rain and mud seemed to set the atmosphere, fitting for a band like SOULFLY. They played nearly the whole first album and two songs from the new one, "Primitive." Max has been a hero of mine for along time. I'll never forget staring into his eyes as her poured his heart out on stage. I can't wait till the next time I see SOULFLY. If you haven't seen SOULFLY live you should because they are the shit.
