September 2, 2000 - San Bernadino, CA - Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion

Ozzfest...my favorite festival tour to date. I arrived sorta late, the show started at about 10 am and I got there at 1:30 or 2 pm. Apparently I did not miss much though. After sitting through a less than exciting set by P.O.D., me and my friends made our way to the second stage for Disturbed who fuckin rocked, pits everywhere, and I was bouncin around in most of them. After that, sweaty and thirsty, I made my way up the dusty dirt pathway to get a drink. Upon my return to the main stage was Methods of Mayhem, who also put on only a decent show, not much to get excited about. Not in the mood for Kittie, I hung out for a while lookin for girls and even got Joe Holmes's autograph. Next on the big stage was Static-X who were VERY good, and very exciting to watch. Then, me and my 2 friends made our way back to stage #2 for the band we'd all been waiting for: Soulfly. After standing around waiting while some annoying prick threw tapes into the audience, Soulfly finally hit the stage. Max's dreads had been dyed a bright red, and he was just as insane as ever, as was the madness that ensued. Playing a blistering set, mostly of old school songs like Quilombo and Bleed, they gave us a sample of Soulfly to come, when they played new songs like Back To The Primitive and Pain, both were incredible new songs. The pits were raging and the audience up front was packed in tight, me included. Overall, an awesome show, Soulfly continues to be one of the best live bands out there. I can't wait to see em again on February 2nd with Pantera and Morbid Angel.
